⏱️ Advance of Southwest Monsoon 2026:
1️⃣ After onset of Monsoon over Keralam on 04th June, it has further advance into some parts of Maharashtra & Andhra Pradesh, remaining parts of Goa, some more parts of Karnataka, most parts of Tamil Nadu, and some parts of Northeastern states as on 6th June 2026.
2️⃣ Pressure Gradient continues to be steep along the West Coast of India, with strong southwesterlies in the lower levels over Southeast Arabian Sea during the forecast period.
3️⃣ Conditions are favourable for further advance of Southwest Monsoon into more parts of central Arabian Sea, Maharashtra, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu and Southwest, Westcentral & North Bay of Bengal and Northeastern states during next 2-3 days.
⏱️ Synoptic Features:
1️⃣ Upper air cyclonic circulations in the lower levels lies over north Kerala, Northwest Uttar Pradesh, Northeast Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, and over Myanmar & adjoining Andaman Sea extending upto middle tropospheric level.
2️⃣ Western Disturbance (WD) traverses across North India with induced circulation in lower tropospheric level extending as a trough aloft in middle tropospheric westerlies to the north of 32°N during 06th – 07th June.
3️⃣ Next WD will affect Western Himalayan Region from 11th to 15th June.
🌧️ Rainfall Outlook:
1️⃣ North & North West India: Scattered light/moderate rain/thundershower with isolated heavy spells will occur over J&K, Himachal Pradesh & Uttarakhand during 06th-07th and 11th-15th June. Plains of Northwest India including Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi NCR and West UP will experience scattered dust/thunderstorms during this period.
2️⃣ East India: Fairly-widespread moderate rain/dust/thunder/hailstorms over East UP, Jharkhand, Bihar, Gangetic West Bengal with scattered heavy spells over Nepal, Sub Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Bhutan and adjoining North Bangladesh particularly between 10th-15th June.
3️⃣ North East India: Fairly-widespread moderate rain/thunderstorms over Northeastern states and Bangladesh with scattered heavy spells during the forecast period.
4️⃣ West & Central India: Scattered rains over Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, Vidharbha and adjoining Telangana and Rayalseema with isolated heavy spells on most days.
5️⃣ South Peninsular India: Widespread moderate/intense rainfall with fairly-widespread heavy spells over Southeast Arabian Sea, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Coastal Karnataka, Goa and adjoining Maharashtra reducing in intensity after 15th June.
🌡️ Temperature Trends:
1️⃣ Minimum: 25-30°C over most parts of India, 20-25°C along the west coast of Peninsular India.
2️⃣ Maximum: Severe Heat Wave conditions persists as temperatures in the range 40-45°C often exceeding 45°C over Rajasthan gradually spreading into UP, Bihar, MP, Chhattisgarh and adjoining Central & Eastern parts of India (Thermal Stress in these regions are extreme to Exceptional) , 35-40°C over Northwest, 30-35°C Northeast India, West Coast and South Peninsula.
